Artistic photography of people, building and places around the world, trying to convey what most people miss when visiting those special places. Religions, classic and modern architecture.

PHOTOGRAPHY
I
Photography,
By dictionary definition,
a technique that allows the making of durable images
through the action of light on a sensitive surface.
I ask myself,
Is that what photography is?
II
Time passes by inexorably,
It continues its march and never looks back.
Photography registers the passage of time,
Freezing,
and immortalizing
Moments,
Situations,
Animals
Objects,
People,
and places.
III
That same sensitivity that light uses to impress an image,
is necessary in the soul of the photographer,
An artist who utilizes the technique
To record,
To document,
To denounce,
Often risking the life to get a picture.
IV
Investigative and optimist,
Intuitivism to be present at the right place at the right time,
without letting any detail go by,
Stealing moments,
putting them away
through the lens of the camera,
To later share them with the whole world.
V
Also creative, imaginative, and a dreamer,
Why not dare?
After all, is there some limit?
Or do we impose our own limits
to later delight ourselves with
the challenge of breaking them?
VI
Universal language
which needs no translation,
Eternal challenge to combine
Light,
Time,
Conditions,
With moments and situations,
Always attempting to transmit a message.
ThatÂ’s what photography is!
About the text:
10 years ago, the city of Curitiba in the South of Brazil organized the biggest international photography exhibition the country had ever seen. At the time I used to work as a producer and scriptwriter for a local TV channel and I was asked to produce several small stories of the event.
When the event finished we decided to produce a larger piece with all that wonderful material and this is the text I wrote for the documentary. The original version is in Portuguese.
